Credit Card Payment Options - USD or BDA
When you apply for the card, you have the option to make your payments in either Bermuda or US Dollars.
If you elect to make your credit card payment in Bermuda Dollars, we will automatically charge your FCPT (Foreign Currency Purchase Tax) and/or FX (Foreign Exchange) to your account. Bermuda Dollar transactions are not subject to FCPT or FX. All FCPT and/or FX will be charged on your current month’s statement, for purchases made up until and including the 21st of each month (this may vary if the 21st should fall on a weekend or public holiday).
If you make your credit card payment in US Dollars, neither FCPT nor foreign exchange charges will apply.

Cash Advances
Your Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card allows you to get cash advances from thousands of financial institutions worldwide, wherever the MasterCard logo is displayed.
For added convenience, you can use your Butterfield /AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card to get cash advances from any automatic banking machine with the MasterCard or Cirrus logo. Before you use your Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card at a banking machine, visit any Bank of Butterfield branch to select a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Please note a cash advance is NOT eligible for AAdvantage miles.
Global Service
With your Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card you’re automatically enrolled in the world-wide customer service programme designed to assist travelling cardholders with Lost/Stolen Card Reporting and Emergency Cash Advances.
MasterTravel
This coverage provides travel accident insurance protection against accidental death and personal injuries when travelling on a licensed, common carrier (except taxis and buses) providing you purchased your tickets with your Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card.
Coverage is provided to you, your spouse and unmarried, dependent children under the age of 23.
MasterAssist®
With one phone call you and your family can get emergency medical and legal referrals. You can also trace and redirect lost luggage and obtain pre-trip destination information.
MasterRental™
When you rent a car in the United States or Canada and pay for the car rental using your Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® card, you will automatically be protected from any losses or damage to the rental car.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Supplementary Cards for Family Members
You can request additional Butterfield/AAdvantage® Gold MasterCard® cards for your spouse and other family members. Supplementary cards are the responsibility of the Main Cardholder.
