Credit Card Payment Options - USD or BDA
When you apply for the card, you have the option to make your payments in either Bermuda or US Dollars.

If you elect to make your credit card payment in Bermuda Dollars, we will automatically charge your FCPT (Foreign Currency Purchase Tax) and/or FX (Foreign Exchange) to your account. Bermuda Dollar transactions are not subject to FCPT or FX. All FCPT and/or FX will be charged on your current month’s statement, for purchases made up until and including the 21st of each month (this may vary if the 21st should fall on a weekend or public holiday).

If you make your credit card payment in US Dollars, neither FCPT nor foreign exchange charges will apply.

For added convenience, you can use your Butterfield / AAdvantage® Platinum MasterCard® card to get cash advances from any automatic banking machine with the MasterCard or Cirrus logo. Before you use your Butterfield / AAdvantage® Platinum MasterCard® card at a banking machine, visit any Butterfield Bank branch to select a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Global Service

Balance Protection Programme
Balance Protection is designed to protect you, the principal cardholder, by meeting your obligations to the Bank in the event of your death or disability. As a Butterfield / AAdvantage® Platinum MasterCard® cardholder, you are automatically covered at no additional cost, if you are between the ages of 18 and 65.
